Technology for FREE

Hi OTLO teachers, I came across a great opportunity for anyone interested. This would be so very cool if one of you were actually picked! Here is the email info I received: We’re attempting to get Digital Wish featured on the “Ellen Degeneres Show” in order to generate donations to schools. We need your help! Can you take a few minutes to fill out this quick TV suggestion form: http://ellen.warnerbros.com/show/respond/?PlugID=10 Here are some things to cover: • Ask them to cover Digital Wish on the Ellen show. • Explain why your class needs/wants technology, and whenever possible…inject humor! • If appropriate – suggest they feature your classroom on the show. Please don’t hesitate to ask parents and students to fill out the form too! We want to create a groundswell, and really raise awareness of the technology shortfalls in schools. If you’ve watched the Ellen show, you’ll know she makes large donations to schools and charities regularly, and she challenges businesses to do the same. She also loves to feature heartwarming stories with kids. Please help us…to help your school secure funding for technology!

Creating a Blog in your Classroom or Online Class

Blogging is something I would like to add in my online and my F2F classes. I found a good article from Edutopia: Digital Discussion: Take Your Class to the Internet, How to set up a blog in your classroom. This short article gives lots of good information and other related articles that will help you set up a lesson to integrate a blog into your F2F class or online class. Blogs can be used for assignments, journaling, class discussions, creative expressions and more.
